When Is Hajj 2024?

muslim pilgrims must attend hajj this year

Hajj 2024 (1445H) will take place between Friday the 14th of June 2024, and Wednesday the 19th June 2024. As Allah SWT in the Holy Quran says, “For Hajj are the months well known. If anyone undertakes that duty therein, Let there be no obscenity, nor wickedness, nor wrangling in the Hajj.

And whatever good ye do, (be sure) God knoweth it. And take a provision (With you) for the journey, but the best of provisions is the right conduct. So fear me, o ye that are wise.” [Holy Quran, Surah Al-Baqarah 2:197]

Hajj 2024 Registration UK

UK Muslims who intend to perform Hajj this year must use the Nusuk platform to submit their application.

The Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has instructed prospective pilgrims to reserve a package offered by one of the authorised companies, Al-Bait Guests, through Nusuk.

Travel agents or companies in the United Kingdom are strictly prohibited from providing private Hajj packages. However, several major Umrah and Hajj companies in the United Kingdom have contracted with Al-Bait Guests to offer guidance and assistance to the UK pilgrims.

Hajj 2024 Lottery System

According to the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, there will be no lottery this year as the pilgrims will be allocated reservation spots on a first-come, first-serve basis.

How to Apply for Hajj through Nusuk Online Platform 2024

Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said, “Whoever performs Hajj for Allah’s pleasure and does not have sexual relations with his wife, and does not do evil or sins, then he will return (after Hajj free from all sins) as if he were born anew.”

Hajj is a life-changing experience; every Muslim wishes to fulfil the obligation at least once in their lifetime. In response to the increasing demand, the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah introduced Nusuk, an electronic portal that allows Muslims to register themselves for Hajj 2024 and makes it easier for the Saudi Government to manage the pilgrims.

Follow the step-by-step guide to apply for Hajj 2024 via Nusuk:

Step 1 | Create an Account

Visit the Nusuk website: https://hajj.nusuk.sa/. If you already have an account, log in. In case you don’t follow the below-mentioned instructions to create an account:

  • Choose your nationality. Make sure that you belong to the eligible countries of the Nusuk Hajj platform.
  • Next, click on the drop-down menu to select your country of domicile.
  • Enter your basic details, including name, contact number, date of birth, gender, and email address.
  • Set a password.

nusuk guest pilgrim account registration

Use your credentials to log into the Nusuk platform and complete your profile. You will need to type and upload scanned copies of your residence ID and passport and a current passport-sized picture.

In case you plan to go for Hajj with a partner, you will need to add their personal details as well.

The Nusuk platform will provide you with updates on your application and will offer a plethora of services, including flight bookings, accommodation in Mecca and Medinah, transport services, tour guides, and secure payment methods.

Step 3 | Select a Hajj Package

You will receive an email once your application is approved. Sign in to your account and click on the “Reservation” tab. This will redirect you to a page listing all the Hajj packages for 2024.

Select the desired Hajj package. Choose the departure city, package type, Hajj operator, and transportation method from the drop-down menu.

Step 4 | Pay for Hajj Online

Once you select the right Hajj package, enter your bank account details and click “Reserve.” Confirm your reservation and note down the bill number sent to you via text and email. You can use the digital platform to keep track of your application, learn about the guidelines of Hajj, and make changes to your packages if required.

When Can I Apply for Hajj 2024?

Pilgrims can apply for Hajj from 10 June 2024 on the Nusuk Hajj platform. However, priority will be given to Muslims who haven’t performed Hajj before.

Hajj 2024 Packages

hajj pilgrimage packages

Stating the significance of Hajj in Islam and its obligation upon Muslims, Umar (RA) said, “Whosoever has health and (sufficient) wealth to bring him to Hajj and still does not go for Hajj and dies without performing it, then on his forehead the word ‘KAAFIR’ shall be written on the day of Qiyaamat.”

Hajj is the fifth pillar of Islam and obligatory for all financially, physically, and emotionally stable Muslims. Because one has to travel to Makkah, Saudi Arabia, to fulfil the obligation in the month of Dhul Hijjah, planning the overall trip from booking the tickets to looking for safe and reliable accommodation near Masjid al-Haram along with 2.6 million Muslims isn’t easy.

Fortunately, travel agents and the government offer Hajj packages that include accommodation, transport services, food, expert guidance, and any support you may need during the pilgrimage.

Before we discuss this in detail, know that there are primarily two types of Hajj packages; shifting and non-shifting. According to the shifting packages, pilgrims will stay in a hotel near Masjid al-Haram before or after Hajj but not during the pilgrimage.

During Hajj, pilgrims will be required to stay in Aziziyyah, which is at a distance of 5 kilometres from Haram.

On the other hand, pilgrims who choose the non-shifting package will be allowed to stay in the same hotel before, after, and during Hajj. They will have access to their luggage and room anytime. Listed below are the Hajj 2024 packages offered by Al Bait Guests:

Why Is Hajj So Expensive?

Over the years, the price of Hajj has skyrocketed across the globe. The sudden increase in the cost of Hajj packages has made it difficult for Muslims to save enough money to fulfil religious obligations.

Even though pilgrims perform the Hajj rites between the 8th Dhul Hijjah and 13th Dhul Hijjah, which is only six days, they wish to stay in Makkah longer and pray 40 rakat Namaz in Madinah before or after Hajj.

The Messenger (PBUH) of Allah SWT said, “Whoever prays forty prayers in my Mosque, missing no prayer, it will be recorded that he is safe from the Fire, is saved from punishment, and is free of hypocrisy.”

This requires them to not only book accommodation for their stay in both the holy cities but also pay for the food and travel services accordingly. Saving Muslims from the hassle, a Hajj package is designed to provide you with all services (airline tickets, hotel reservations, transportation, and Mina tents).

In addition to the never-ending recession, several reasons contribute to the abrupt escalation in the cost of Hajj packages. Some of them are as follows:

  • Increased Number of Applicants: The growing influx of pilgrims seeking to embark on the holy journey has provided private companies (travel agents) the opportunity to make profits by increasing the price of the Hajj package.
  • New Policies of the Saudi Government: A common practice of the Saudi Government is to set a limit for Hajj visas, leading to a spike in the cost of Hajj packages.
  • Devaluation of the International Currency: In the last few years, the currency of South Asian and Middle Eastern countries has devalued, causing a sudden upswing in the expenditure on the Hajj packages.

What Is the Age Limit for Hajj 2024?

Even though the minimum age requirement for a pilgrim is 12 years, Hajj 2024 doesn’t impose an upper age limit. The Saudi Government strongly recommends the elderly (older than 65 years) and individuals with pre-existing health conditions seek medical advice before travelling for the pilgrimage.

Involving standing, walking, and physical exertion, the rites of Hajj can take a toll on the body. Thus, if you are older than 65, get yourself checked to ensure you are in good health to go on the holy journey.

At What Age Does Hajj Become Compulsory?

Hajj is compulsory for any Muslim who has reached the age of puberty (18 years and older) and is physically, emotionally, and financially stable. Allah SWT in the Holy Quran says, “And Hajj (pilgrimage to Makkah) to the House (Ka’bah) is a duty that mankind owes to Allah, those who can afford the expenses (for one’s conveyance, provision and residence).” [Holy Quran, Aal ‘Imran 3:97]

How Much Will the Hajj Cost in 2024?

The cost of Hajj can vary depending on the package you have opted for. However, the cost of the most affordable 2 to 3 weeks non-shifting Hajj 2024 package can be between £5500 and £6000.

This includes 7 nights in Makkah, 4 nights in Madinah, and a stay in Mina and Arafat.

Summary – Hajj 2024

Hajj, one of the five pillars of Islam, is a spiritual duty that must be performed by all physically and financially sound Muslims at least once in their lives. While providing Muslims with a way to wash away their sins, the pilgrimage represents the spiritual journey of self-reflection, purification, and unity.

Millions of pilgrims from all over the world gather in Masjid al-Haram to perform Tawaf around the Holy Kaaba, asking for forgiveness and seeking the blessings of Allah SWT.

Hajj will take place this year between June 14 2024 (8th Dhul Hijjah) and 19th of June 2024 (13th Dhul Hijjah). If you are one of those undertaking the journey this year, may you have a blessed experience.

When you are at the House of Allah SWT, don’t forget to pray for the betterment of the Muslim Ummah
